### DIRECTIONS:

In directions, there are 8 directions.

There are three types of models in directions.

1: Distance problems

2: Left-Right problems

In directions the following table is important

 Left Right North West East South East West East North South West South North

#### Distance Problems

Here we find the distance between starting and ending points

1.If two directions are same then added: N+N,S+S,E+E,W+W.

2.If two directions are opposite then subtracted: N-S,E-W.

3.If two directions are neither same nor opposite then apply Pythagoras rule.

Ex:N-E,N-W,S-E,S-W

sqrt(x^2+y^2)

Example :

Sachin starts his journey from his house towards ground. First he walk 7km towards north then turns East and walks 12km and then turns north and walks 3km then turns west and walk 15km then turns south and walks 10km and reaches to the ground. Then what is the distance between house and ground.

Step 1: write down the directions and distances

NORTH-7  EAST-12  NORTH-3  WEST-15  SOUTH-10

Step 2: If two directions are same then add

NORTH-7+3  EAST-12  WEST-15  SOUTH-10

Step 3 : if two directions are opposite then subtract

NORTH-10  EAST-12  WEST-15  SOUTH-10  =WEST 15-EAST12 = WEST 3KM

Here we have 4 types of questions

1) What was the total journey

Add All directions :NORTH-7  EAST-12  NORTH-3  WEST-15  SOUTH-10 = 47km

2) What is the distance between starting point & end point

NORTH-10  EAST-12  WEST-15  SOUTH-10  =WEST 15-EAST12 = 3KM

3) In which direction is he from the starting point

NORTH-10  EAST-12  WEST-15  SOUTH-10  =WEST 15-EAST12 = WEST

4) In which direction is he from the ending point

Opposite to west i.e EAST

1.X—RR=opposite.

2.X—LL=opposite.

3.X—LR=same

4.X—RL=same
